Bulgaria prices

What are the prices in Bulgaria? Prices for basic items.

In the communist years, holidays in Bulgaria for the average Pole was the peak of dreams. We couldn’t afford any of the exotic destinations that are now the norm. Therefore, we chose a country with a warm sea and one that was within our capabilities. Later, when the economic situation of many Poles improved significantly, we wanted something more exotic and we forgot about Bulgaria. In recent years, however, this direction has returned to favor again, mainly due to relatively low prices compared to Polish prices and to other popular destinations.

Price differences.

Prices in Bulgaria are lower than those we find every day in Polish stores. The same applies to restaurants and bars, although in recent years, when the number of tourists has increased, prices have gone up a bit. Despite this, it is still inexpensive, so you can eat in restaurants, shop for yourself and your loved ones. The most expensive is close to hotels and generally on the coast. The less attractive the region is, the lower the prices are. Price differences are also visible between individual stores, so it is worth finding out in which place is the best to shop.

Prices on the Black Sea.

It should be added that prices in small shops in typical tourist destinations such as Sunny Beach or Golden Sands can be up to 30% higher. This is why people renting self-catering apartments in Bulgaria should seriously consider going to a big city like Nessebar or Burgas at the very beginning of their stay. During such a trip, you can make larger purchases of the most necessary groceries and thus save a lot.

Prices in restaurants.

From the forum post, I quote; As for prices in pubs. In Nessebera, in a very nice and stylish restaurant Orient in the middle of the island (service in Polish) for 61 levs we had for a family of four (2 + 2 (10 and 8 years old)): – dough clams (large portion not eaten), – chicken in Bulgarian in vegetables (delicious, delicate, large portion served in a clay bowl), – 2x chicken fillets + fries (children ate one portion …) – a glass of white wine, – 5x ice tea 0.5l, – 2x ice cream desserts. Food very good, I recommend it.
