Pranimi i krishterimit kontribuoi n\u00eb eliminimin e dallimeve etnike midis protobullgar\u00ebve dhe sllav\u00ebve dhe filloi procesi i nd\u00ebrtimit t\u00eb nj\u00eb kombi t\u00eb bashkuar bullgar.  U krijua nj\u00eb shtet i fuqish\u00ebm me kryeqytet Pliska (nga viti 895 n\u00eb Pres\u0142aw), i cili zgjati n\u00eb periudh\u00ebn 681-1018.  Nga viti 1018 territori i Bullgaris\u00eb u pushtua p\u00ebrfundimisht nga Perandoria Bizantine, dhe mbeti n\u00ebn sundimin e Bizantin\u00ebve deri n\u00eb vitin 1185. N\u00eb vitet 1186-1398 ekzistonte nj\u00eb shtet i dyt\u00eb bullgar, pas t\u00eb cilit territori i tij b\u00ebhet pjes\u00eb e shtetit osman.  1908 Pavar\u00ebsia e plot\u00eb e Bullgaris\u00eb, aneksimi i Rumelis\u00eb Lindore.  Si rezultat i luft\u00ebrave ballkanike (1912-1913), Bullgaria humbi nj\u00eb pjes\u00eb t\u00eb madhe t\u00eb territorit t\u00eb saj dhe p\u00ebr k\u00ebt\u00eb arsye iu bashkua Luft\u00ebs s\u00eb Par\u00eb Bot\u00ebrore n\u00eb an\u00ebn e Fuqive Qendrore.  N\u00eb Luft\u00ebn e Dyt\u00eb Bot\u00ebrore, ajo zgjodhi (s\u00eb bashku me Hungarin\u00eb dhe Finland\u00ebn, nd\u00ebr t\u00eb tjera) n\u00eb an\u00ebn e Boshtit.  Pushtimi i vendit nga Ushtria e Kuqe n\u00eb vitin 1944 rezultoi me p\u00ebrmbysjen e monarkis\u00eb dhe krijimin n\u00eb vitin 1946 t\u00eb nj\u00eb republike popullore n\u00ebn udh\u00ebheqjen e komunist\u00ebve.  M\u00eb 13 tetor 1991 n\u00eb Bullgari u mbajt\u00ebn zgjedhjet e para t\u00eb lira.  N\u00eb vitin 2004.
